Welcome to the Barony of Dun Carraig!
The Barony of Dun Carraig is the chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) in Southern Maryland. The SCA is an international non-profit educational organization dedicated to the study and re-enactment of life in the Middle Ages and early Renaissance. The SCA's members practice all the Arts & Sciences of medieval life from the daily living of making and wearing of garb and preparing feasts to the war time interests of making armor for rapier combat to fully armored combat fielding armies numbering in the thousands of soldiers.
The Knowne World of the SCA is currently divided into seventeen regions known as Kingdoms. The local region, the Kingdom of Atlantia, is made up of the states along the Eastern Seaboard, basically Maryland through South Carolina. The Barony of Dun Carraig is composed of three counties in Southern Maryland: Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's. Dun Carraig is Scots-Gaelic for "Cliff Fort" or "Stone Fort". The Barony is presided over by the Thegn and Banthegn, which is Scots-Gaelic for Baron and Baroness, who owe their fealty and allegiance to the King and Queen of Atlantia.
