Seneschal Tidbit #1

Subject: Our beloved Herald and his heralding duties

After perusing (yes, perusing) the Herald's Quarterly report it seems there has been little action in this arena. In fact, it seems the only action is that he wrote the report.

Not his fault.

In other words, let's put him to good use! If you do not have a name, or a device, here sits (and I do mean sits) a perfectly good Herald waiting to be of service to...oh yeah...maybe you.

Going around the SCA without a name is like going around naked. While some will appreciate that, others do not.

A good device on a large field will cover up all those naked bodies on a cold night.

So, don't be shy, call the guy!!!
And If you don't, I will keep writing poems and send them to YOU!!!!!

Please remember, when you have something on your mind regarding an event, or something that has happened, something you have observed etc. please remember to communicate with that person about that item, first, before bringing it to the Seneschal. It is proper procedure and the only fair way of dealing with issues. Communicate, communicate, communicate. Please do not let a lot of time lapse in doing so, in that this will harbor all kinds of nasties.

It is the Baron and Baroness' responsibility to pick the Baronial champions, under whatever designations they choose. If they can not be present they may designate another or postpone the choice making (ok, it sounded better than picking).

Seneschal Tidbit #4

This has to do with being an Autocrat. It is well known that being an Autocrat has an expectation of getting a site for an event. And it is well know that ain't so easy, but a #1 priority. So, when putting in a bid to be an Autocrat to the peoples of Dun Carraig,it is not necessary to have a site just then, but would look really good if you did. Also, it is expected that the Autocrat will then bring a sample of a contract and some cost numbers so that the Barony can peruse such, and, of course, approve of such, since most site fees are well above $300.00.

Contracts should include:
1. When the final walk through will occur. (Yes, we want it in writing if possible to cut down on the burn factor)
2. When the deposit will be returned and it should be 21 days to allow us to deposit it and then count it in the final numbers before the 30 day limit.
3. The percentage of the deposit and when they want it.
4. Time of access to the site.
5. Parking and handicapped parking.
6. Places on site that have limited or no access.
7. Smoking and where or where not.
8. Alcohol and or not.
9. Open flames and or not.
10. Animals and or not.
11.Rooms that we can use and maybe a map!!!

Can't say we don't learn.....

Please be aware that all of Dun Carraig's assests, in the shed and out, must be accessed in the presence of the Quartermaster. No exceptions.
