Basic Turkish language (Taught by Baroness Kisaiya Zingara) This is a very basic class on the modern Turkish language. We will cover the alphabet, pronunciation and pleasantries. The goal of the class is to give you ways to get more involved with your Turkish persona.

Ottoman Garb (Taught by Baroness Kisaiya Zingara) This class focuses on male and female clothing of the Ottoman Empire during the 16th Century. There will be a short summary of the life of a nobleman during that time and then we will cover the style of dress and the processes used to create their clothing. (Donations will be accepted for copying costs.)

Persian Gardens (Taught by Baroness Caristiona de Coveran)
Paradise...translated means "Walled Garden". You will be surprised and delighted to learn a little history on how the Persians gardened, who designed the gardens you see in the paintings, and learn how you can create your own Paradise.

Beyond Sekanjubins (Taught by Sorcha)

Fun with Sugar (Taught by Lady Deirdre O'Bardon)
Fun with Sugar is a hands on class which allows the participants to actually make small creations from marzipan and cold sugar dough. Marzipan is believed by many to have originated in the Middle East and been carried back to Europe during the Crusades. Due to the hands on nature of this class, there should be no more than 10 students. There is a fee of $3 to partially cover the cost of the materials (almond paste, confectioner's sugar, rosewater, gum tragacanth, etc.)

The Life of Zarathustra (Taught by Lord Marcolo aka Mazdaku)
Prophet of the Pre-Islamic monotheistic religion of Persia, Zoroastrianism. A brief overview of the history and legend of the life of Zarathustra also known as Zoroaster. This is not a religious debate and I in no way claim to be Ashu.

Rajasthani dance for kids (Taught by Nina Amaya of these Bright Hills) Kids and adults are welcome to learn some basic Rajasthani folk dance steps and put them together. Period Indian clothing is the only way to appropriately bare your midriff at Pennsic, so learn some dance steps that go along with the colorful garb! The song we will use is similar to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5STD5yFldkY Performing this dance live in the hall is an option, too! Bards will come in a box, as we have no resident snakecharmers on hand.

Tiraz in Period and in the SCA (Taught by Mu'alimah Maymunah bint Da'ud al Siqilliyah)

The following competitions will be held at the event:

Beyond Sekanjubins (Sponsored by Sorcha)

"You Stepped out of a Picture" (Sponsered by Maymunah)
